Red Hot Chilli Peppers to me stand for peace and love and being fucked up and doing really stupid shit that may give you pain, shame and regret. I have learnt that you can’t hold onto it because if you do, you will be a prisoner of your own judgmental mind. Wasn’t it Bob Marley who said “none but ourselves can free our minds”. So wise! We make mistakes and try to be better people not realising that we are ALREADY OK, all people make mistakes. You need to let it go, you need to give it away, that is how you grow and learn from your experiences. That takes courage. I will always remember Flea’s statement in an interview “let your freak flag fly” and I thanked him! It was validating and I want to continue to send that message out into the world. Music helps us to do this!
“Part of my mind believes this and the other part doesn’t. Insight is when some part of you becomes curious, starts to question, doubt and make up its mind while the other part stays blissfully safely ignorant. I am a loser who has lost the plot and an untouchable star and just a kind-hearted person living an ordinary life ALL AT THE SAME TIME! I work and I make music knowing that there is very little chance of it going anywhere but find it to be a cathartic release. My songs are not all that pretty or compassionate but as I write a weight is lifted off my shoulders and I learn something new about being human. “…Thank you to Bob Marley, Flea, RHCP and all of those courageous souls who use their music to heal the world. The history of humanity is fraught with painful mistakes. Regret is only useful if it leads to acknowledgment and change. Cloutie states “heal the world.”
